The Matrix
The Matrix is the primary display area in YourSixOS. It allows you to view live or recorded video streams, barriers, and widgets in customizable layouts. This enables users to monitor multiple devices and barriers from multiple sites simultaneously.
Accessing Matrix
- Log into YourSixOS via browser application or mobile application.
- The Matrix is the default view after login.
- It can also be accessed anytime from the navigation bar by clicking
Matrix
.
Basic navigation
The Matrix interface is organized into four main sections:
- Timeline: Positioned along the bottom of the screen. Used to navigate and review video playback and events.
- View/Device/Things menu: Located on the right side of the screen. Displays available sites, devices, things and views.
- Canvas: The main area of the screen where widgets are displayed.

Adding devices and things to the canvas
- In the right-hand menu, locate
Sites
and expand the section. - A list of sites will display based on your access and permissions.
- Expand the desired site to view available devices.
- Select a device to add it as a tile on the canvas. If the device has child things, such as barriers; expand the device to select the needed things.
- Repeat to add more devices and things until your preferred view is created. See the views article of this manual for saving layouts.

Control bar
Located below the Matrix, the control bar provides playback and interaction tools:
- Pause & Play: Start or stop video playback.
- Playback speed: Adjust the playback speed of recorded material.
- Event flags: Highlight and navigate to security events.
- Timestamp: Show exact time of current position in timeline.
- Live indicator: Identify whether in live mode or in playback mode
- Zoom: Focus on details within widgets.
- Exports: Create an evidence export.
Timeline functionality
At the bottom of the Matrix, the timeline shows recordings and event data:
- Event flags: Indicators for security events.
- Video storage lines: Show where video recordings are stored:
- Cloud: Blue line
- SD Card: Green line
- NAS (Network Attached Storage): Purple line
Users can click or drag along the timeline to navigate to specific points in time.
Best practices
- Event flags: Use flags to speed up investigations.
- Docking menus: Dock menus to maximize canvas space for video tiles.
- Fullscreen widgets: Double-click any tile to expand it into full-screen mode.
